In the spirit of Ramadan, the month of hospitality, sharing and renewals of friendship and kinship, you are invited to attend an Iftar with us.
The Launch event has invited fellow community organisations, faith groups, Members of Parliament, Met Police and members from the local community.
This event is part of The Big Iftar, a national initiative launched in 2013 and continued to develop and grow in 2014. The ‘big’ in its name indicates lots of events around the country adding together to have a significant impact similar in concept to The Big Lunch. It is a Muslim led initiative but people from all backgrounds have come together and have been involved and it has captured the imagination of people from diverse backgrounds. The main aim is to encourage Muslims to open up Ramadan, to be inclusive, to create opportunities for people to come together, meet, eat and build relationships. Ramadan is a very special time of year for Muslims and The Big Iftar has presented the ideal platform for individuals, families, community groups, institutions, schools, to use the time of year to bring people together and build bridges that has created platforms for work through the year.
